I spent half my childhood in Brooklyn and the other half in Plano, Texas, and somehow I grew up to be a plus-sized bisexual nightclub entertainer who also writes literary fiction.

My debut novel, Vow of Celibacy, was just released by Rare Bird Books in August 2016 and has already received some really great reviews. My words have also appeared in VanityFair.com, Salon, Thought Catalog, and on my blog at so make it up. And I’ve written for the stage with The Meaning of Wife, which got four stars from Time Out New York, and as a contributor to Wake Up World!, Lizz Winstead’s satirical off-Broadway show.

As a stand-up, I started out at the best comedy club in the world: the Comedy Studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I’ve appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing (2014), on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham (2008), and at lots of festivals, including Women in Comedy, Bridgetown, Boston, and Laugh Your Asheville Off, as well as Eugene Mirman’s eponymous one. I’ve told jokes at clubs, on boats, at colleges, and in Europe, and I’ve performed in more than 60 North American cities with my tour mates. My first comedy album, So Many Choices, is available on Rooftop Comedy.

I live in Los Angeles, where I co-host Romantic Comedy, a popular monthly comedy show at The Ripped Bodice, the country’s first romance-only bookstore.

I talk and write about queerness, sexuality, body image, culture, and my life. I love words, ideas, mysticism, humans, justice, love, friendship, art, and Andrew Molera State Park. I believe #BlackLivesMatter, misogyny hurts everyone, and pizza is a human right. If you want more me, let’s connect on social media!

Kinda Gay: Bi Erasure on Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Butch Please

Willow Rosenberg wasn’t always into chicks.

Throughout season one of Buffy, our lovable hacker pined for her best friend, Xander. Her feelings weren’t reciprocated (Xander was too busy mooning over Buffy), but even so, she carried a torch for him well into season two.

That’s when she met Oz, an adorable guitarist who made no secret of his interest in her. The two began a tentative flirtation, rendering Willow appropriately smitten. Eventually, she managed to ask him out on a date. So began the cutest romance ever.

Xander, upon being rejected by Buffy, eventually struck up a dalliance with a cheerleader named Cordelia. After a bit of a rocky start, they settled into being boyfriend and girlfriend.

Things were going great for everyone until a few days before Homecoming. Willow and Xander decided to try on clothes for the dance together. Nothing was amiss until Willow emerged from behind…
