Lynnette talks with Jasmine of BQAC about the new board member drive and the upcoming Creating Change Conference 20116 being held in Chicago. The BQAC will be hosting the Hospitality Suite this year!
“Hello Queer, Bisexual+, and Allied persons,
We are writing you to inform you of a great opportunity to attend the nation’s largest LGBT conference in the city of Chicago. It’s a great place to learn more about your community and network with other LGBT folks from Chicago and around the country.
Creating Change is a conference organized by the National LGBTQ Task Force where thousands of LGBT activists come together. This year the conference is taking place at the Hilton in downtown Chicago. The conference runs from January 20-24. Here is a link to their website: www.creatingchange.org
You can register for the conference and pay several hundred dollars to attend the full conference OR you can volunteer for a 4 hour shift at the conference and be able to attend that day’s activites for free. You can potentially attend the majority of the conference for free if you volunteer to help out.
Bisexual Queer Alliance of Chicago is putting together the Bisexual Hospitality Suite of the conference and we need volunteers to man the suite. Essentially, the suite serves as a safe space and a place of community for Bi+ persons. The volunteers’ task is to make sure that the right people are informed if there are any issues.
Are you interested?
If so, send us a email at firstname.lastname@example.org AND register at the following link: https://www.creatingchange.org/wanna-help/volunteer/
Tell us what days you are interested in and any special accomodations that we should provide. You are required to attend a 1 hour training the Sunday before the conference at sometime between 12pm and 6pm. Otherwise, the days and times that you work are up to you. We will send out a list of specific times available as the day gets closer.
